Gypsy Princess+the Pea

I thought my schedule would settle down a bit after the workshop but I was sadly mistaken. I’ve been trying to get this post up since the middle of last week but it’s been so rushed I wanted to make sure I could concentrate and make sure I covered all of the vendors and specifics of this shoot. This was a very important shoot. :)

So late last Summer, Jessica and I were talking and going over the the workshop details. I told her the concepts I wanted to cover and this was the last one. Only… I planned for just the princess (no prince) because I knew that it would be 1 in a million that we would be able to find a couple, perfect enough, for this specific shoot. They would have to not only look the part.. but they would have to be completely and utterly in love. Our thoughts were that when we found a model to look the princess part, and she had a boyfriend.. he would most likely NOT be up for playing this part. Most of the time, NOT always, but most of the time.. guys aren’t big fans of pictures.. must less if it’s an elaborate, romantic concept. Playing the part of prince charming, might scare most guys off. So from the start, we didn’t post a model call for this shoot.. I knew that we would have to wait and just handpick the princess when she came along. So months passed and we concentrated on filling the parts for the other shoots.. just having faith that the right princess would come along for the part eventually. THEN, while sitting in our hotel room in Florida, the night after Thanksgiving, while headed out of town for our cruise, I was looking on Facebook and saw a status update that made me wake B up. My husbands cousin’s boyfriend proposed to her! We were so excited for them. It was just the night before, when leaving B’s Nanny’s house that we were talking about how adorable April and her boyfriend Derrek were together. They had been dating for about a year and the family just loved him.. especially Briley, who I believe has a crush on him. ;) That’s when it dawned on me.. I don’t know why I hadn’t thought about it before.. but April would make a perfect Princess and not only that.. but she had a fiance who would make a perfect prince and who I know would be completely up for it. I was right.. and I’m can safely say that I don’t think we could have found a couple more perfect for our shoot. These two are such an amazing couple and are going to make an amazing little family. I’ll be shooting their beautiful wedding this October.. and I could not be more excited.

From the moment we first started talking about this concept, Jessica ran with it. We called this shoot “her baby,” because it was. She was able to incorporate her love of everything hippie and Woodstock with this fairy tale. Our idea was a Bohemian, Gypsy-style twist on a whimsical fairy-tale. We were SO excited about this whole shoot and all of the details. We were able to use some awesome vendors who were just PERFECT for this concept. Eco Green Boutique sells all things handmade, recycled and fair trade. We were like kids in a candy store picking and choosing things to use for the shoot and Kari graciously let us take whatever we wanted! Tiffany and Jessica also found some gorgeous items for April to wear from SoHo. Jessica did a PHENOMENAL job of bringing this shoot to life. I could not believe how gorgeous it was when we walked up. Tiffany also did a knock out job on April’s hair and makeup. She looked even more beautiful than usual!

The 1st workshop was better than I could have hoped for and it would not have been possible without the help of my 3 lovely assistants, Jessica, Tiffany and Wendy.. as well as all of the businesses who helped out. Thank you all so very much!!! Looking forward to Workshop #2 scheduled for Sept 11th and 12th! I actually only have a couple more spots available.. if your interested check out the details HERE.
