Big Girl

Briley’s big girl room!! This is bitter sweet. :(

It’s been a while in the making. Mostly because I chose to take this project up in one of my busiest times of the year. This protect involved a LOT of painting- 80% of that being on that BED! I took almost 2 weeks of working on that bed to get it finished. It was just very time consuming. Originally the bed was supposed to be yellow as well.. but when we went to pick out paint colors Briley asked for pink… so she got pink. ;)

When I initially bought Briley’s nursery set, I had every intention of keeping it and turning it into a toddler bed and then a twin bed. It was a very nice bedroom set, but I had been wanting to redo her room for awhile.. and I really didn’t want to paint over the green because.. #1. I still love it.. and #2. I’m not really ready to paint over those custom 2 tone stripes I had done! SO I decided I wanted to completely change her furniture. It didn’t cost much. I found an antique bed I fell in love with at a local antique store. My mom had given me an antique dresser she didn’t need anymore and it had been in our guest room since we moved in! I purchased an old book shelf, but ended up using an old TV stand I bought several years ago at another local antique store.

Briley is absolutely IN LOVE with her room. Anytime anyone comes over she drags them in, shuts the door behind them, throws her arms out and says (with every bit of excitement her body can contain) “WOOK AT MY WOOOM!!!!” She loves her big girl (princess) bed and ESPECIALLY loves her awesome new bedding… which is to die for. When I started my search for bedding, I knew that I wanted something that was our style.. (bright, happy, colorful, eclectic.. with a little bit of crazy.) ;) I also wanted her bed spread to be a quit.. I imagine it being something she’ll keep forever and eventually hand down to her kids one day. Julie BLEW me away. The quilt is perfect. BEYOND perfect. Then you add in everything else to make it complete… the curtains, “scrap kitty”, customized throw pillow and even a bed skirt!!! It brought the room together.
